DR. MANHATTAN
Powers and Abilities
He is immensely powerful and seemingly invulnerable to all harm; even when his body is disintegrated, he can reconstruct it from atoms (in less than a minute the second time this happened).
He has complete awareness of and control over atomic and subatomic particles.
He can alter his body's size, coloration, density, and strength.
He does not need food, water, or air, and is, for all intents and purposes, immortal.
He can teleport himself and others over great (even interplanetary and perhaps interstellar) distances.
In addition to these powers, he is able to
- Phase any part of his body through solid objects without damaging them
- Produce multiple copies of himself which function independently of each other
- Project destructive energy
- Disintegrate people (possibly by removing their intrinsic fields which causes the target to come apart explosively)
- Create force fields
- Transmute and create matter
- Move objects without physically touching them (telekinesis)
- Create life and walk on the surface of the sun.
Due to his non-linear perception of time, he sees the past, present and future simultaneously.
Weaknesses
His only definite technical weakness appears to be tachyons; a large burst of them can 'jam' or slow his ability to see the future to a large extent, as well as temporarily confusing his perception of the "present time", but still his telekinetic powers were unaffected.
Given these kind of powers he can kill anyone.
JEAN GREY
here’s no shortage of psychics in Marvel’s catalogue, so being the best of them is saying something. That honor probably goes to Jean Grey, the fifth member of the original X-Men. The live-action movies only scratched the surface of Jean’s powers, since her decades in print have shown her do just about anything a mind can achieve: mind-reading, mind control, telekinetic barriers, force fields, you name it.
And that’s even before she unlocks full access to the cosmic Phoenix Force – it may make her a bit more villainous, but the power it grants over the universe as a whole is testament to Jean’s dedication and focus.
SHAZAM
We know what you’e thinking: it’s Superman who has to be DC’s strongest hero, right? Not necessarily. Superman was first, but with updates and imitators came some serious upgrades. Take Shazam, formerly known as Captain Marvel. All the powers, all the strength, all the speed and invulnerability of Superman, but drawn straight from the magical gods of the ancient world. That basically means that the champion of the old gods can go toe-to-toe with Superman, and actually hurt him (since the Man of Steel, like most alien villains, is vulnerable to magic). Not to mention being fast enough to challenge The Flash, and not needing to eat or sleep while in his superhero form. Something almost no other heroes can claim.
THE FLASH
It might sound like running really fast would get old quickly, but Barry Allen’s comic book powers are on another level. When you have the superhuman speed to casually stroll past almost-frozen people beside you, it’s hard to think of a superpower that couldn’t just be faked using the same strategy. But that was before Barry Allen realized he had the speed to travel to distant worlds, or even back in time. And for all the muscles and alien physiology to choose from, a hero who can rewrite time in the blink of an eye is as powerful as they come.
DOCTOR STRANGE
Imagine if Harry Potter was a grown man, and well-trained in martial arts? Now picture it a whole lot cooler, and you’ve got a rough idea of why Doctor Stephen Strange is basically just that. Having learned the ways of mystic magic, martial arts, and claimed the title of ‘Sorcerer Supreme’ for himself, it’s true that Strange relies on amulets and symbols for power, not his powers or mutation. But he’s been referred to as the most powerful human on Earth – so magic wands, necklaces, or orbs aside, Strange is the heavyweight hitter of Marvels’ supernatural side. Here’s hoping that he makes a big splash in Marvel’s big screen continuity soon.
Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange, best known under his alias Doctor Strange, is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by artist and character conceptualist Steve Ditko, the character first appeared in Strange Tales #110 (cover-dated July 1963). A former neurosurgeon, Strange serves as the Sorcerer Supreme, the primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats. Debuting in the Silver Age of comics, the character has been featured in several comic book series and adapted in a variety of media including video games, an animated television show, and films. Inspired by storytellings of black magic and Chandu the Magician, Strange was created to bring a different kind of character and themes of mysticism to Marvel Comics.
Doctor Strange was an egotistical but very brilliant surgeon. After a car accident destroys his hands and hinders his ability to perform surgery, he searches the globe for a way to repair them and encounters the Ancient One. After becoming one of the old Sorcerer Supreme's students, he becomes a practitioner of both the mystical arts as well as martial arts. Along with knowing many powerful spells, he has a costume with two mystical objects - the Cloak of Levitation and Eye of Agamottothat gives him added powers. Strange is aided along the way by his friend and servant to the Sorcerer Supreme, Wong, and a large assortment of mystical objects. He takes up residence in a mansion called the Sanctum Sanctorum, located in New York City. Later, Strange takes the title of Sorcerer Supreme.
Strange is a practicing magician who draws his powers from mystical entities such as Agamotto, Cyttorak, Ikonn, Oshtur, Raggadorr, and Watoomb, who lend their energies for spells.
Strange also wields mystical artifacts including the Cloak of Levitation which enables him to fly, the Eye of Agamotto whose light is used to negate evil magic, the Book of the Vishanti which contains knowledge of white magic, and theOrb of Agamotto which is used as a crystal ball.In addition to his magical abilities, he is trained in several martial arts disciplines, and has shown proficiency with numerous magically conjured weapons including swords and axes. Strange was a skilled neurosurgeon before nerve damage impaired his hands.Doctor Strange is described as "the mightiest magician in the cosmos" and "more powerful by far than any of your fellow humanoids" by Eternity, the sentience of the Marvel Universe. He holds the title of Sorcerer Supreme from 1973 (with the death of the Ancient One)to the present, except during an interruption from 1992 to 1995. He relinquishes the title once again in 2009, but reclaims it in 2012 when he proves himself willing to protect the world even without the title.
